Richland eSports program

Richland High School is excited to introduce our eSports program! Our program is open to all high school students who have an interest in gaming competitively against other schools.
We have acquired new gaming PCs from Cyberpower PC and Bytespeed who helped us outfit our high school lab with brand new Respawn gaming chairs!  Games include Overwatch, League of Legends, SMITE, and Rocket League. A tournament hosted by Ukatsu in central Missouri kickstarted the creation of our program into high gear. Tryouts for a traveling competition team were held and the top 8 players were selected based on skills, communication, and teamwork to participate in the tournament.
eSports will participate in league play beginning this fall through PlayVS. Players select one game of their choosing and form teams to compete against other schools. Matches are once a week. As we grow our program, we will continue to search for more area tournaments.
We are very excited to begin this program at Richland. More and more high schools across the world are creating eSports programs with the potential for their players to earn scholarships through universities with established programs. Schools in Missouri with eSports teams include:

There are even universities offering eSports Degrees! The real-life skills required to be a part of an eSports team are invaluable and more employers seek to hire individuals with such skillsets.
Wish us luck during our inaugural season. We hope one day your student can earn a scholarship or even a degree in the quickly-booming industry of eSports!
